Cutting, Pasting and Flipping aims to explore the relationship between immigrant workers and the 'Made in USA' label within the LA Fashion District, incorporating insights from my own industry experience and historical research. The visuals take inspiration from window grids and the contrasting viewpoints experienced both inside and outside of windows. By interweaving the non-fictional
story of a retail store in the LA Fashion District and fictional story of a tie factory, the film questions the intricate processes and labor involved in clothing production. I challenge the representation associated with ‘Made in USA’ labels, which are based only on the origins of fabric, materials and processes, regardless of the origins of the fabrics and labor involved. I aim to question the representation attributed
to labels from specific countries in the multicultural environment centered around immigrants.
